Resilient,
Unusual,
Fabulous
Woods Edge Gardens is a design and build team with a micro nursery.
We focus on growing and designing with plants that are that are adapting to our changing climate, prioritizing native plants, drought tolerant and erosion control species and pollinator and forage friendly types.
Our design work relies on the diversity and resilience that a balance of perennials, annuals, bulbs, shrubs, and potted plants can offer. We create layers of interest throughout the full year by selecting plants that not only look beautiful in bloom, but also in seed, dormancy, and leaf. We love movement, wildness and surprise.
Our background is an eclectic mix of all things plant: flower farming and floristry, vegetable farming, nursery work, landscape design, with a degree in performance art. After all, a garden is a living being in motion.
With our nursery work we strive to increase financial accessibility to planting out large areas of native varieties while reducing plastic and using more sustainable methods within the nursery industry. We are experimenting with soil blocking methods for seeding, cow manure pots, and local ecotype seed collecting.
Located in central Vermont, we are woman owned and run our business while balancing the community responsibilities of caretaking that are often provided by those of us who identify as femme. Seed by seed we experiment, learn, and steward the next generation of seeds and humans to be resilient, unusual and fabulous.
